by John Stevens (c) Aug. 16, 2010

Hope arrived… limping severely.
The journey had been quite long,
Searching for Something to hold on to.
Hope was weak but would not give up,
There is always hope, no matter how small.
For: ”Hope springs eternal”.

Faith was greatly weakened and vulnerable,
Wounded by the words of discouragement.
Naysayers of the day were chipping away.
Faith needed help to overcome Doubt.
Lurking close by… and closing in….
Keep the Faith Baby!

Love felt lonely and threatened.
In need of some friends to lean on.
The days were long and dreary with
Hate knocking at everyone’s door.
Love glimpsed Faith approaching and knew
Hope was not far behind.

Hope, Faith, Love;
Together, they formed a bond and
Began flourishing once again!
Together, they opened the door
of the heart in need of repair.
Together, they rescued a heart,
Filling it to overflowing.

Love began to grow and blossom,
Bringing Light to the darkened heart.
Hope, walking tall and standing straight,
Began to breath deep again.
Faith leaped forward with renewed vigor
to guard the Heart’s door

The Three Musketeers… together…
Unstoppable… Conquer the world.

John! What a wonderfully inspirational work of art!

    John Stevens Aug 16, 2010
Thanks Neva. I owe it all to a group of Musketeers on HP. The encouragement to write after 3.5 years of DRY. It is exciting again to lay down words on a piece of paper. My wife and I worked a couple of hours finding the “right” words. IT WAS FUN!

That is an awesome story John. I don’t know who the musketeers are but I say Bravo! to them..

    John Stevens Aug 17, 2010
That would be: D, the first to encourage me, a wonderful young lady by the name of Neva, a fellow I call Master Martin who I admire his stuff, another who has been an inspiration with a long name Chris……….. Smith, when I talk to my wife about him I call him the Welshman, Warren, my brother, for encouraging me to “take a look at Hello Poetry”. I did and have not looked back. Of course Mari, my Irish Rose. What a sweetheart. (don’t tell her that). Heather was a late comer but in there swinging for me. That is all I can think of at the moment. I chalk it off to 67 any more.

they showed the world that with the three, they could overcome anything.
this is an excellent write , on three important words.

John, I must begin by congratulating you and your lovely wife, on this magnificent inking! Wow! What a truly inspirational idea to group the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love and call them The Three Musketeers! Wow again! That is surely divine! I adore how you give the virtues human characteristics John – that is so unique! Wow again!! Superbly constructed, you provide a buffet of food for your reader to feast on and reflect on later in their day. A delightful, graceful, silk smooth flow and so finely expressed! A super display of visual detail enhances the write John. What a privilege to read! John, never, ever, ever stop writing, you have a true gift in a most unique form and it touches the reader’s heart, mind and spirit(at least, it does this reader’s!)deeply! A true privilege to read John and Mrs. Stephen’s and I thank you both for so very kindly sharing this wonderful poetic work of art, with me. Blessings & Light & Love to you both.
P.S./ I read what you so kindly said about me, in your comment John – I am blushing – but from my heart I Thank You! God bless you always, dear friend.

I ended up scuttling the first go at this. It was not good. It then opened up and became a totally different and exciting flow.

Thank you for an inspiring comment. Sometimes I go back and re-read comments such as this when I need a little brightness in my life. If I caused you to blush, it was purely intentional… of course! That is Faith Hope and Love at work in our hearts.

I am thinking the reason I like your name so much may be because it sounds like Emily Dickinson. Another great poet.
